Encampment is the most significant, worthwhile training experience in a CAP cadet’s career. It is a week long basic training-like program and is required for the General Billy Mitchell Award. Encampment is designed to develop a greater understanding of CAP and Air Force missions and capabilities, personal and team leadership, and teamwork.
We are now accepting applications for cadet basics. The first step is to forward a completed and signed CAP Form 31 to the Maryland-Delaware Encampment, as described below.
Upon receipt, applicants will receive additional forms which will need to be completed and returned prior to arrival.
Cadet Basics must have attained the grade of Cadet Airman (Curry Achievement) by 31 May 09 to be accepted.
The postmark deadline for application for cadet basics is May 31, 2009. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. (NOTE: In 2008 the encampment had a waiting list due to the high number of applications– it is highly encouraged to send in your application early.)

Good Day,
Is the MD-DE Encampment scheduled from June 27 to July 4 or June 28 to July 5th? The website states June 27 to July 4 but this site shows June 28 to July 5. Please let me know which date is correct.
Thank you,
SM Kyler

The dates are confirmed for Sunday, June 28, through Sunday, July 5. We had some date changes with the facility we are using which caused some confusion. Thanks!

How often are the applications updated? I don’t see my son’s application on the Application Status page. It was mailed nearly a month ago.

We will update the application status page as often as we can. The application are sent to Maryland Wing HQ and volunteer encampment staff pick up the applications once a week or so to process them. As we get closer to the encampment, this will become more frequent.
I just picked up applications late this week and your son’s application is among them. The application appears to be complete. Download the additional forms (on the forms section of the website) and return to the same address the application was mailed to: MDE Encampment, PO Box 18341, Baltimore, MD 21240.
Thanks.

My son does not have leather dress shoes, only the shiny non leather–they did not have them at his squadron (he wears a 13) We ordered them from the Hock shop, but just found out they are on back order–I know he is supposed to have leather, but can he use non leather ones anyway, if the others dont arrive by fridaY???

That will be fine. Leather is preferred as they will be having shoe shining classes. Thanks!

My son has not received his nametag for the blue dress uniform. Is this going to be a problem?

He will get marked off on that part of his uniform inspection, but it will not keep him from learning and participating at the encampment. Some things we do not have control over. He will be fine. Thanks.
